Life and Death Mandala Workshop
Date: 11 May 2017
Start time: 06:00 PM
End time: 08:00 PM
Venue: Royal Trinity Hospice 30 Clapham Common North Side, SW4 0RN. For Dying Matters Week, Trinity is running a unique creative workshop to explore the themes of life and death through the ancient Tibetan practice of making a mandala. Constructing a sand mandala is an ancient Tibetan ritual art, used as a meditational aid in Buddhism and Hinduism. Despite being highly intricate to make, mandalas are designed to be impermanent. After being used in a sacred ceremony, a sand mandala is swept up and the sand scattered into a nearby river or lake as a blessing. The workshop will involve creating a sand mandala followed by a supportive discussion exploring the transient nature of life as illustrated by the mandalas. The event is free (donations accepted for materials) but please RSVP by emailing media@royaltrinityhospice.london or calling us on 020 7787 1012.
